CIS Standard Home Inspection†

This is our most popular home inspection service. It includes a full visual inspection of the entire home from the foundation to the roof. We also inspect other vital systems such as plumbing, electrical, and mechanical.

For new homes, this inspection should be scheduled before construction begins. It is separated into six phases. The first phase includes a visual inspection of the footings before they are poured. Next the foundation walls are inspected before they are poured. After the damp proofing is applied a third inspection is conducted. Once the framing, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems are complete, a fourth inspection occurs. A fifth inspection is done following the installation of insulation and vapor barriers. The sixth, and final, inspection occurs when the home is complete and all systems are functional.

For existing homes, this inspection is completed in one visit. We check the footings and foundation walls for cracks and signs of possible water damage. All vital systems are checked to ensure safe and proper functionality as well as code compliance.

All of our findings and observations are compiled into an easy to read and easy to understand report that is made available to you both online and in hard copy. If repairs are needed you may request a follow up inspection at a reduced rate.

Radon Sampling

Radon is an invisible, odorless, and tasteless gas. Radon is naturally ocurring, and can be pulled from the ground and into the air by a change in home pressure known as stack effect. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer among non-smokers and kills more than 20,000 people every year.

Blower Door Assessment

Curry Inspection Services uses blower door technology to identify the air tightness and help assess the energy efficiency of your home. Ventilation plays a key role in the air quality of your home. If there is too much ventilation your home could be ingesting outdoor pollutants, but too little ventilation and the concentration of indoor pollutants increases.

Energy Rating

Our AkWarm™ certified energy raters will conduct a full energy efficiency assessment of your home to determine its energy rating. This energy rating may be used to help verify compliance with the International Energy Conservation Code (IECC), and qualify 5 Star and 5 Star Plus homes.

The Alaska Housing Finance Corporation is offering a rebate to assist homeowners in making the best energy-efficiency improvements for their home. The program requires an AkWarm™ certified home energy rater to evaluate homes before and after the improvements. The more a home's energy efficiency improves, the greater the possible rebate. Please contact us to request an energy rating.
